Chic by nature. Object profile

Graduated from the Industrial Design Department at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Sharon Sides created the impression of being both rugged and fragile – as if her design has been polished through the ages, conjuring up a fantasy past.

The Stumps project engage with the transition of natural figures into design projects via technology. Stumps’ patterns are scanned and then etched on Brass. The brass bends into chairs, while preserving the stumps’ out-line. The design of each chair is affected from the original shape of the tree trunk; therefore, each chair has its own unique nature.

The designer’s treatment of the raw material and the sophisticated process gives this collection a compelling authentic air.
